from our doguht to dust
from dust to our demon.
Our dreamdough, our dreamdemon.
Since the main task of the little creature SANDY is to collect dreams of the people, Dreamdough is a little planet where dreams can be enacted.
The performance began with the artists sleeping, scattered in the exhibition space. Once awake, still in their own dreams, they gather for a slumbering breakfast, bringing together their old Semmel bread that they smash in a circle. In this ritualistic process, the wafer-thin crumbs become the means of communication. The audience spountaniusly joined the artists. Occasionally, solo performances arise from this island where bodies act dreams, act dreamly. Finally, they find themselves in a sand of scrambled Semmel-dreams which is the dough for a final collaborative sculpture that incorporates a multitude of dreams, our dreamdemon.
Bread, in its ever-presentness and essentiality, is much like the dreams that reign over our daily - and nightly - lives. This performance aims to shed light on the power of sharing dreams, taking care of them, and merging them with others to make dreams part of reality, thereby morphing it.
